In a quest to avenge the death of your lover, forces of good assemble together and embark on an arduous conquest of every inch of the kingdom. With each step, there are losses and by the time your foot finally sets upon the shadow of the troll warlord, you have lost most of the militia that rallied to your cause. During a close battle with the troll, your blade is pressed close to the trolls throat, when you realize that the night sky is lit up from the earth and there is a smell of smoke in the air. The troll belches out a raspy laugh underneath the sword, clearly enjoying the site of the puny human fortress burning on the distant horizon and the look of defeat on your face.
