Project Interval: Number 7

At 20x speed, the movements of a human are like the invisible flurry blur of a hummingbird's wings. Also for me, there is a strange effect when I watch the videos of myself painting; I feel as if I am playing a game of the Sims, watching my life in the third person.IMG_2467-1This painting started off with a digital sketch of a cold landscape with blues and purples. I moved it to the larger canvas and I have been using acrylics to get that sense of calm after a heavy snow storm. The viewer is thrust into the painting by the building on the left side, and offered a warm shelter as they look across this vast landscape covered in snow and ice. It actually has a pretty similar composition to an earlier work that I painted in the outskirts of Davis.DSC_0014I painted this one in plein-air and the structure offered shade in the hot davis afternoon. I am using the same effect with the earth tone shelter, except it is offering you shelter from a cold landscape.
