The back alleys and slums of kings landing inspired me to paint this digital piece. I worked on this piece for about 1 hour on my Wacom Tablet in Corel Painter. The contrast between the dark purple and the warmer colors was the main focus throughout the painting process. With a large oil brush I blocked in the basic shapes to distinguish between background, middle ground, and foreground. When working from the imagination, I find myself transported to the tip of my brush. I work with the background and feel my eyes focus on a faraway ridge or pathway. As I work with the colors, I have to constantly remind myself to consider the whole picture. The smaller brush size tends to focus my eyes more, rather than working with large blocks of light and shadow.
